At Holy Cross Catholic School, we prioritize individualized attention by maintaining small class sizes in our Kindergarten program.
This allows Ms. Wilcox and Mrs. Calleen to truly know each child and their unique learning needs. Smaller classes foster strong teacher-student relationships and encourage active participation where students feel confident asking questions and engaging in hands-on learning experiences.
We believe in educating the whole child, which means striking the right balance between academics, social-emotional learning, and faith formation. Our Kindergarten curriculum includes early literacy, math, science, and social studies, all presented in ways that spark curiosity and a love for learning. We also integrate play-based and hands-on learning to keep students engaged while reinforcing foundational skills.
We know that strong parent-school partnerships play a key role in student success. Our Kindergarten program emphasizes open communication between teachers and families through regular updates, weekly newsletters, and parent-teacher conferences.
We also invite families to be an active part of our school community through classroom events, our Parents' Association, volunteer opportunities, and school-wide celebrations.
Beyond core subjects, our Kindergarten students participate in a variety of enrichment opportunities that enhance their learning experience.
Students attend weekly classes in music, art, physical education, library and technology, all designed to develop their creativity, motor skills, and confidence. These experiences help young learners discover their interests and build well-rounded skills that extend beyond traditional academics.
Students also have outside recess 2x a day to help get the wiggles out and play.Every child is unique, and we recognize that students learn in different ways and at different paces.
We use differentiated instruction, small-group learning, and hands-on activities to ensure that each child is challenged and supported appropriately.
We also have a Social-Emotional Support Counselor who works with students to help them navigate challenges, build confidence, and develop important life skills.
